Description
The Predator 9500 has a 459 cc OHV 4-stroke engine with 15.3 hp, 120/240V, a gasoline-powered generator, 7,600W of running power, and 9,500W of peak power. Also, since it can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel kit), its power can be increased by connecting it to a second unit that works with it. The noise level of the inverter generator is 67 dBA, which is less than an office. It has a simple pull-start mechanism and a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). With a full tank, the 9500 can run for up to 18.5 hours (using about 0.37 GPH of fuel), because it can hold 6.8 gallons of fuel. As the 9500 makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 5%, you can safely plug sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Outlets
There are 6 AC outlets on the control panel: two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle. It also has 3 DC outlets: two 5V USB ports (USB-A) that make it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets, and a 12V 8A receptacle that makes it easy to charge batteries. Even though this Predator generator isn’t quite RV Ready, its L5-30R receptacle makes it easy to connect to an RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. The 9500 is also ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. If the power goes out, you can easily connect it to a breaker box and keep your home running.
Features
A digital data center, which is part of the 9500’s control panel, lets you check on its status and activity. It also tells you how many hours it has run in its lifetime. In addition to this information, there are a number of lights that show when the oil level is too low, when the generator is overloaded, and when it is ready to use. The inverter generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to find out how much gas is in it. For safety, the generator has an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), so you can use it without worrying. The Predator’s CO SECURETM carbon monoxide detector is also helpful for the unit. While the generator is running, this system checks how much CO gas is building up and turns off the engine if it gets too high. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. The Predator 9500 comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual that will help you start the generator quickly. It also comes with a tool kit, a funnel, and battery charging cables.
Mobility
The Predator 9500 is an inverter generator. It has a case that is 31 inches long, 23.8 inches wide, and 28.9 inches high. So, it looks better than most other products with open frames. The design shown here is in line with the latest trends and is great for easy and fun use. Even though this generator is technically “portable” in the sense that it can be moved, it weighs 257 pounds, which makes it very hard to move by hand. But its 4 wheels and folding handle make it easier to move once it’s on the floor.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
