Description
The Predator 9000 has a 420 cc OHV 4-stroke engine with 13 hp. It gives out 120/240V, runs on gasoline, and has a running wattage of 7,250W and a peak wattage of 9,000W. The noise level of this generator is 73.5 dBA, which is just a little louder than a vacuum cleaner. It can be started with a simple pull-start or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery not included). With an 8-gallon fuel tank, the 9000 can run for about 13 hours at half load on a full tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.62 GPH).
Outlets
There are 6 AC outlets on the control panel: two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle. It also has 1 DC outlet, which is a 12V 10A receptacle that looks like a cigarette lighter. This makes it easy to charge your batteries. Even though this Predator generator is not RV Ready, an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter can be used to connect it to a simple RV. The 9000 is also ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. You can connect it to a breaker box to power your home when the power goes out.
Features
The feature light indicator will let you know when the oil level is too low. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in it. As far as safety goes, the device has an automatic shut-off for low oil and a circuit breaker for overheating, so you can use it without worrying. The Predator’s CO SECURETM carbon monoxide detector is also helpful for the unit. While the generator is running, this system checks how much CO gas is building up and turns off the engine if it gets too high. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. Along with the features we’ve already talked about, the Predator 9000 comes with the standard paperwork and an owner’s manual , which will help you start using the device right away.
Mobility
The Predator 9000 has a traditional, open frame design with dimensions of L26.9 x W22 x H22.8 in, This gives it stability and lets the generator be raised above ground level. The generator is built to work well outside and in rough places. Even though the generator is technically considered to “be portable,” it will be very hard to move it by hand because it weighs 195 pounds (in the sense that it is movable). The lack of maneuverability is made up for by a wheel kit, which you can buy separately from Harbor Freight or Amazon and use to move it easily once it’s on the ground.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
The Harbor Freight Corporation, which boasts an amazing list of over 200 patented items, is the sole distributor of Predator portable generators. One of their more recent lines of outdoor power equipment is the Predator name. Predator generators, like many other types and models of power equipment offered by Harbor Freight, are produced in China.
Warranty Information
