Description
The Pulsar G10KBN is powerful and flexible, thanks to its dual-fuel technology that lets it run on both 120V and 240V. When it is running on gasoline, it has a running wattage of 8,000W and a peak wattage of 10,000W. When run by propane, it has a rated power of 7000 watts and a peak power of 9000 watts. The generator has both a pull-start mechanism and an electric starter that is easy to use and convenient (battery included). It has a noise level of 76 dBA (less noisy than a shower). The G10KBN can run for about 12 hours at 0.5 load on a full tank of gasoline and 6.6 gallons of fuel (fuel consumption is approximately 0.55 GPH). It can run for about 6 hours if propane is used (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 0.78 GPH).
Outlets
Two 120V 20A (5-20R) duplex outlets, a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle are on the control panel. It also has one DC outlet with a 12V 8A output that makes it easy to charge your batteries. Since it has a 14-50R outlet, this Pulsar unit is ready for an RV with a 50-amp service if you have an RV with 50-amp service. The G10KBN also has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, which makes it ready for a transfer switch. This means that it can power your home when the power goes out, as it can be easily connected to your breaker box.
Features
The G10KBN’s control panel has a handy meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours so you can keep an eye on its status and activity. In addition to this information, a light shows you if there isn’t enough oil. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to find out how much gas is in it. In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off when the oil level gets too low. The Pulsar G10KBN comes with a tool kit, propane hose, and funnel, as well as the usual documentation and an owner’s manual to get you up and running quickly.
Mobility
The Pulsar G10KBN is 28.5 inches long, 21.8 inches wide, and 23 inches high. Together with its traditional, open-frame design, they support the generator and allow it to be raised above the ground. The device was made to work well in harsh conditions and in the great outdoors. Even though the generator is technically considered to “be portable,” it will be very hard to move it by hand because it weighs 209 pounds (in the sense that it is movable). It is hard to move around, but its wheel kit (dia:10) makes it possible “Once it’s on the floor, it will be easier to move because of the handle that folds down.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
The California, USA-based Pulsar Products Inc. owns the trademark Pulsar. The company has a respectable selection of air compressors, pressure washers, and generators, which vary in power from 1,2 kW to 10 kW and come in dual fuel and RV-Ready models. The US is home to a number of Pulsar facilities, including two distribution centers, one in Illinois and one in California. However, it appears that Asia is where they outsource the production of their goods.
Warranty Information
A warranty covers the Pulsar G10KBN for up to 2 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. Pulsar generators come with a warranty that you can learn more about by calling Pulsar Customer Support at 1-866-591-8921.
