Description
The gasoline-powered 212 cc OHV 4-stroke engine is the heart of the Predator 3500. It has a 120V output and a running power of 3,000W and a peak power of 3,500W. Also, since it can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel kit), its power can be doubled by connecting it to a second unit that works with it. This inverter generator has a noise rating of 56 dBA, which is quieter than rain. It can be started with both a pull-start mechanism and an electric starter that is easy to use (battery included). With a full tank, the 3500 can run for up to 11 hours (using about 0.24 GPH of fuel), because it can hold 2.64 gallons of fuel. The 3500 makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of less than 5%, so it’s safe to plug sensitive electronics into AC outlets (THD).
Outlets
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet and a 120V 30A (L5-30R) outlet. It also has 1 DC outlet: a 12V 8A receptacle that makes it easy to charge batteries. With an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter, this Predator generator’s L5-30R receptacle makes it easy to connect it to an RV (included). But it’s still not ready for an RV.
Features
The 3500’s control panel has a digital data center that tells you the voltage, lifetime run hours, and power output. This helps you keep track of its status and activity. In addition, the lights tell you if the oil level is too low, if the generator is overloaded, and if it’s ready to use. The inverter generator has a built-in fuel gauge, which makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in the machine. In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off when the oil level gets too low. The Predator’s CO SECURETM carbon monoxide detector is also helpful for the unit. While the generator is running, this system checks how much CO gas is building up and turns off the engine if it gets too high. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. The Predator 3500 comes with a funnel, tool kit, battery charging cables, and an RV adapter, as well as the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual to get you up and running quickly. You can also buy a separate cover for storing the chair.
Mobility
The Predator 3500 is an inverter generator, and its closed design (L22.8 x W17.3 x H20 in) makes it look better than traditional devices with open frames. The generator has a modern look and is easy to use when generating power for fun. Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it can be hard to move and use without special tools because it weighs 102 pounds. Still, once it’s on the ground, the device’s set of 4 wheels and double handle can easily solve the problem of low mobility and make it easy to move.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
The Harbor Freight Corporation, which boasts an amazing list of over 200 patented items, is the sole distributor of Predator portable generators. One of their more recent lines of outdoor power equipment is the Predator name. Predator generators, like many other types and models of power equipment offered by Harbor Freight, are produced in China.
