Description
The Predator 6500 is driven by an OHV 4-stroke engine with 301 cc and 8 hp. It gives out 120/240V, runs on gasoline, and has a running wattage of 5,500W and a peak wattage of 6,500W. This generator has a noise level of 73.5 dBA, which is just a little louder than a dishwasher. It starts up with a simple pull-start mechanism. With an 8-gallon fuel tank, the 6500 can run at 0.5 load for about 14.5 hours on a full tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.55 GPH).
Outlets
Two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle are among the 5 AC outlets on the control panel. It also has 1 DC outlet, which is a 12V 10A receptacle that looks like a cigarette lighter. This makes it easy to charge your batteries. As the 6500 holds a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: you’ll easily be able to connect it to your breaker box to power your home during a power outage.
Features
There is a light that lets you know right away if there isn’t enough oil. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to find out how much gas is in it. When it comes to safety, this product has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without any worries. The Predator’s CO SECURETM carbon monoxide detector is also helpful for the unit. While the generator is running, this system checks how much CO gas is building up and turns off the engine if it gets too high. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. A tool kit was also included in the 6500’s packaging, along with the usual paperwork and owner’s manual to get you up and running quickly. You can also buy a separate cover for storing the chair.
Mobility
The Predator 6500 has a standard, open frame that measures L26.9 x W22 x H22.8 in, This gives it support and lets it be lifted off the ground. The generator is built to work well outside and in rough places. Even though the generator is technically considered to “be portable,” it will be very hard to move it by hand because it weighs 165 pounds (in the sense that it is movable). Once it is on the ground, it can still be moved easily with the help of a wheel kit, which can be bought separately from Harbor Freight or Amazon.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
