Description
The 426 cc Generac G-Force 4-stroke engine in the Generac XC8000E runs on gasoline and can deliver 120/240V. It has a running power of 8,000W and a maximum power of 10,000W. This generator has a simple pull-start mechanism, but it also has an electric starter that is easy to use (battery included). With a full tank, the XC8000E can run for about 11 hours at 0.5 load (fuel consumption is about 0.77 GPH). This is because it can hold 8.5 gallons of fuel. As the XC8000E makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of 5%, you can safely plug sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Outlets
The full GFCI control panel has 6 AC outlets: two 120V 20A (5-20R) duplex outlets, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) outlet, and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) outlet. Even though this Generac generator isn’t quite RV Ready, an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter makes it easy to connect it to an RV. Also, the XC8000E is ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. It is easy to connect to a breaker box and can power your home if the power goes out.
Features
The XC8000E’s control panel has a digital data center that tells you how many hours it has been running for so you can keep an eye on its status and activity. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to find out how much gas is in it. For safety, the generator has an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), so you can use it without worrying. The Generac XC8000E comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual to help you start the generator quickly. It also comes with a tool kit and oil, among other things.
Mobility
The Generac XC8000E has a traditional, open frame that measures L34.3 x W28.6 x H32.5 in, This frame gives it support and lets it be lifted off the ground. The generator is built to work well outside and in rough places. Even though this generator is technically “portable” in the sense that it can be moved, its weight of 260 pounds makes it very hard to move by hand. Once it’s on the ground, though, its wheel kit (dia:10 “), and its folding handle can easily fix the problem of limited mobility and make the device easy to move. A lift hook on the top of the frame adds another layer of safety and makes it easier to move, load, and unload the generator.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Founded in 1959, Generac Power Systems is an American manufacturer of power tools and generators. Generac’s primary business is, as its name implies, the manufacture of power generators as well as other electrically related products like switches, paralleling systems, and tiny engines. The corporation has multiple US-based production facilities, thus its goods are produced there. The company, however, doesn’t disclose where the components they use were made.
Warranty Information
The warranty for the Generac XC8000E lasts for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. Generac’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long generators are covered by warranty. You can also call their customer service line at 1-888-GENERAC (888-436-3722).
