Description
The Cat INV2000 has an OHV 4-stroke engine that is 79.7 cc. It gives out 120V, runs on gasoline, and has a running wattage of 1,800W and a peak wattage of 2,250W. This inverter generator has a noise level of 52 dBA, which is just a little louder than a refrigerator. It starts up with a traditional pull-start mechanism. Because it can hold 1 gallon of fuel, the INV2000 can run for up to 10 hours on a full tank (it uses about 0.1 GPH). The INV2000 makes a clean sine wave. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 3%, you can safely plug your sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel has 2 AC outlets for the following: Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI. Also, it has 3 DC outlets: two 5V USB ports for charging devices like phones or tablets, and a 12V 8A receptacle for charging batteries.
Features
The lights let you know if the generator is ready, if it is overloaded, or if it doesn’t have enough oil. The LED lights on the panel give you more control and make it easy to use at night. The inverter generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to find out how much gas is in it. For safety, the generator has an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, so you can use it without worrying. In addition to the usual paperwork and owner’s manual to get you up and running quickly, Cat also included a tool kit with the INV2000.
Mobility
The Cat INV2000 looks better than a typical open frame generator because it has a closed inverter generator (L19.6 x W12.5 x H18.1 in). The design shown here is in line with the latest trends and is great for easy and fun use. The INV2000, which is called a lightweight portable generator, weighs only 48.8 lbs. Since one person can move it without much trouble, the generator and its power can be used anywhere. The handle, which is built into the case, is also helpful because it makes it easy to carry.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Caterpillar Inc., frequently referred to as just CAT, is an American engineering company with a line of goods that includes power generators, financial products, mobile phones, and machines. The 1925-founded business is listed among the Fortune 500 and serves as a pillar of the US Dow Jones index. CAT offers a variety of portable and household-scaled devices in addition to its primary concentration on industrial scale generators. Northern Ireland’s Belfast and Illinois’s Mossville collaborate to develop CAT portable generators. However, China is where they outsource its manufacture.
Warranty Information
The Cat INV2000 has a warranty that lasts up to 2 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.
