Description
The Powermate PM2000i has an 80cc OHV 4-stroke engine that provides 120V, runs on gasoline, and puts out 1,700W continuously and 2,000W at its peak. It has a pull-start mechanism, which is a common way to start a motor. It has Powermate’s PowerDialTM, a dial that is easy to use and has three settings for how it works. Due to its 1.2 gallon fuel tank, the PM2000i can run for up to 11 hours on a full tank (using about 0.11 GPH of fuel). The PM2000i makes a clean sine wave. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 3%, you can safely plug sensitive electronics into its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel has two AC outlets for the following: Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R). It also has 1 DC outlet, which is a 12V 8A receptacle that makes it easy to charge your batteries.
Features
For safety, the generator has an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, so you can use it without worrying. The Powermate PM2000i comes with standard paperwork and an owner’s manual that will help you get the device up and running quickly. It also comes with battery charging cables, oil, a funnel, and a tool kit.
Mobility
The Powermate PM2000i is an inverter generator. It has a case that is L19.7 in, x W11.4 in, x H17.9 in, So, it looks better than most other products with open frames. The goal of this modern design is to give recreational users the best way to get power. The PM2000i is a lightweight portable generator because it only weighs 46.6 pounds. A single person should be able to move it around easily and get power wherever they go. It can also be carried easily thanks to a handle that is built into the case. This makes it even more convenient.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
While Powermate’s past is a little mysterious, they assert to have been selling portable generators and other outdoor power equipment for over 40 years. They entered into a contract with the Italian PRAMAC in 2009 under what they refer to as “partnership,” but is actually ownership. Generac purchased Powermate from PRAMAC in 2014.
Warranty Information
A warranty covers the Powermate PM2000i for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. Check out Powermate’s warranty policies if you want to know more about the warranty on Powermate generators. You can also call their customer service line at 1-800-445-1805.
