Description
The 357 cc Yamaha MZ360 OHV 4-stroke engine on the Yamaha EF6300iSDE runs on gasoline and can put out 120/240V. It has a running power of 5,500W and a maximum power of 6,300W. The electric starter on the inverter generator is convenient and easy to use (battery included). It has a noise level of 58 dBA (The noise level is lower than that of a refrigerator). Yamaha’s Smart ThrottleTM is built into this generator. This load-sensing feature automatically changes the speed of the engine to match how much it is being used. This saves fuel and reduces noise. Due to its 4.5-gallon fuel tank, the EF6300iSDE can run for up to 13.3 hours on a full tank (using about 0.34 GPH of fuel). The EF6300iSDE makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of less than 4%, so it’s safe to plug sensitive electronics into AC outlets (THD).
Outlets
The control panel has 4 AC outlets: a 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplex outlet, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle. Even though this Yamaha generator isn’t RV Ready, an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter can be used to connect it to a simple RV. The EF6300iSDE is also ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. If the power goes out, you can easily connect it to a breaker box and keep your home running.
Features
The EF6300iSDE’s control panel has a digital data center that tells you about the power output and lifetime run hours. This lets you keep an eye on the machine’s status and activity. On top of this, the device’s lights will show if the generator is overloaded, if it is ready, or if the oil level is too low. The inverter generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it easy and quick to check the fuel level. As for safety features, the device has a circuit breaker for overheating and an Oil Watch system that turns it off automatically when the oil level gets too low, so you can use it without worrying. The Oil Watch warning system from Yamaha gives you more peace of mind. This feature makes the car last longer because it keeps the engine from getting damaged and needing expensive repairs. When the oil gets low, the generator turns off by itself and won’t start again until more oil is added. It also has a sensor for carbon monoxide. This sensor is meant to measure the amount of carbon monoxide in the air while the generator is running. If the generator isn’t set up right and carbon monoxide levels get too high, the generator will turn off by itself. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. In addition to the features we’ve already talked about, the Yamaha EF6300iSDE comes with standard documentation and an owner’s manual to help you get started right away. You can buy a storage cover from the company separately.
Mobility
The encased inverter generator design of the Yamaha EF6300iSDE (L30.7 x W24.3 x H27.2 in) makes it look better than any ordinary open frame product. The goal of this modern design is to give recreational users the best way to get power. Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it weighs 200 pounds and can be hard to move and use without special tools. But its 4 wheels and double handle make it easier to move once it’s on the floor.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
The Japanese-based Yamaha Corporation, established in 1887, has a lengthy history spanning more than 130 years and has a hand in just about every sector imaginable, most notably motorbikes, musical instruments, and electronics. Many of the best portable generators are among the company’s diverse offering of goods. Many of the more recent versions, it has been said, are built in China rather than Japan.
Warranty Information
A warranty covers the Yamaha EF6300iSDE for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.
