Description
The WEN GN9500 is run by an OHV 4-stroke engine with 420 cc and 10 hp. It gives out 120/240V, runs on gasoline, and has a running wattage of 7,500W and a peak wattage of 9,500W. The generator has a noise rating of 72 dBA, which is just a little bit louder than a dishwasher. It has a simple pull-start mechanism and an easy-to-use electric starter (battery included). For even more convenience, you can also start the GN9500 from a distance (key fob included). With a full tank, the GN9500 can run for about 7.5 hours at 0.5 load for every gallon of fuel (fuel consumption is approximately 0.8 GPH).
Outlets
The control panel has 6 AC outlets: two 120V 20A (5-20R) duplexes, a 120V/240V 30A (L14-30R) plug, and a 120V 30A (TT-30R) plug. It also has 1 DC outlet, which is a 12V 10A receptacle that looks like a cigarette lighter. This makes it easy to charge your batteries. The TT-30R plug on this WEN generator is ready for an RV. TT stands for “Travel Trailer”. The GN9500 also has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, which makes it ready for a transfer switch. You can easily connect it to your breaker box to power your home when the power goes out.
Features
The GN9500’s control panel has a digital data center that shows the lifetime run hours and voltage. This helps you keep track of the machine’s status and activity. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to find out how much gas is in it. From a safety point of view, the product has a circuit breaker for overload protection and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without worry. The WEN GN9500 package comes with basic paperwork and an owner’s manual that will help you start the generator right away. It also comes with a key fob and a tool kit.
Mobility
With dimensions of L27.3 x W20.8 x H22.2 in, the WEN GN9500 is a traditional, open-frame generator that is stable and can be raised above ground level. The design shown is great for the outdoors and other rough places. Even though the generator is technically considered to “be portable,” it will be very hard to move it by hand because it weighs 194 pounds (in the sense that it is movable). Still, the generator is easy to move once it’s on the ground, thanks to its wheel kit and folding handle, which is a good way to make up for its lack of maneuverability.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Nick Anton started WEN Products, an American power tool manufacturer and distributor, in 1951. WEN Products says that its research in random orbital technology contributed to the creation of current chainsaws, soldering tools, and wet sharpeners. The Illinois-based corporation increased the range of power tools that were available through its distribution network, including presses, drills, and of course, power generators. WEN is a distributor, and the majority of the products in its inventory are branded imports from Asian manufacturers.
Warranty Information
The WEN GN9500 has a warranty that lasts up to 2 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.
