Description
The WEN DF875iX’s dual-fuel technology lets it put out 120/240V and gives it a lot of power and flexibility. If it is powered by gasoline, the device has a running power of 7,000W and a starting power of 8,750W. If it runs on propane, it has a rated power of 6300 watts and a starting power of 7800 watts. This inverter generator can be started with a simple pull-start mechanism or with an electric starter that is easy to use (battery included). For more convenience, the DF875iX can also be started from a distance (key fob included). With a fuel capacity of 4.2 gallons, the DF875iX can run for about 6.7 hours at 0.5 load with a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption is approximately 0.63 GPH). It can run for about 5.5 hours if you use propane (on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 0.85 GPH). Since the DF875iX makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 1.5%, you can safely plug sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel has 6 AC outlets: two 120V 20A (5-20R) duplexes, a 120V 30A (TT-30R) plug, and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) plug. It also has 2 DC outlets: there are two 5V USB ports (USB-A) that make it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets. This WEN generator is RV ready because it has a TT-30R plug. TT stands for “Travel Trailer”. The DF875iX is also ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. If the power goes out, you can easily connect it to a breaker box and keep your home running.
Features
The status and activity of the DF875iX can be easily checked on the control panel, which has a meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours. In addition to this information, the device’s lights will show if the oil level is too low, the generator is ready, or the generator is overloaded. The inverter generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it easy and quick to check the fuel level. When it comes to safety, this product has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without any worries. The unit also works well because WEN’s CO Watchdog can detect carbon monoxide. This system keeps track of how much CO gas is being made while the generator is running. If there is too much CO gas, the CO Watchdog system will turn off the generator automatically. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to always take your generator outside. The WEN DF875iX comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual that will help you start the generator quickly. It also comes with a tool kit, a key fob, a funnel, a propane hose, and two altitude kits.
Mobility
The WEN DF875iX is 26.8 inches long, 26.4 inches wide, and 23.2 inches high. Together with its traditional, open-frame design, they support the generator and allow it to be raised above the ground. The device was made to work well in harsh conditions and in the great outdoors. Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it weighs 140 pounds and can be hard to move and use without special tools. But once it’s on the floor, its wheels and folding handle make it easier to move.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Nick Anton started WEN Products, an American power tool manufacturer and distributor, in 1951. WEN Products says that its research in random orbital technology contributed to the creation of current chainsaws, soldering tools, and wet sharpeners. The Illinois-based corporation increased the range of power tools that were available through its distribution network, including presses, drills, and of course, power generators. WEN is a distributor, and the majority of the products in its inventory are branded imports from Asian manufacturers.
