Description
The powerful and versatile WEN DF250i gives off 120V thanks to its dual-fuel technology. Even though it runs on gasoline, it has a running wattage of 2,250W and a peak wattage of 2,500W. It is powered by propane and has a rated 1800 watts and a starting 2000 watts. Also, since it can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel kit), this power can be doubled by connecting it to another unit that works with it. With WEN’s Auto Fuel Selection technology, the fuel source (LPG or gasoline) is chosen automatically based on availability, with LPG being given priority. So, if the generator is hooked up to a propane tank with enough LPG, the generator will automatically use LPG. If there is no propane tank attached or not enough LPG in the tank, the generator will use gasoline. The pull-start mechanism on the inverter generator is simple and old-fashioned. It can make up to 52 dBA of noise (just slightly more noisy than a quiet suburb). With a fuel capacity of 1.2 gallons, the DF250i can run for about 6 hours at 0.5 load on gasoline (about 0.2 GPH), or for about 17 hours on propane (estimation based on a 20 lb tank; propane uses about 0.28 GPH). The DF250i makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of less than 1.2%, so it’s safe to plug sensitive electronics into the AC outlets (THD).
Outlets
The control panel has the following two AC outlets: duplex 120V 20A (5-20R). It also has 2 DC outlets: there are two 5V USB ports (USB-A) that make it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets.
Features
The lights will let you know when the generator is overloaded, when the oil level is too low, and when the generator is ready. The inverter generator has a built-in fuel gauge, which makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in the machine. The fuel shutoff feature stops the flow of fuel, which lets the DF250i use up the last of the fuel in the carburetor before turning off automatically. This helps prevent the buildup and blockages that can happen when fuel sits in the carburetor for too long. This makes the unit last longer and requires less maintenance. From a safety point of view, the product has an automatic low fuel shut-off, a circuit breaker for overload protection, and an automatic low oil shut-off, so you can use it without worrying. The WEN DF250i comes with the standard paperwork and an owner’s manual, which will help you get the device up and running quickly. It also comes with a tool kit, a funnel, and a propane hose.
Mobility
The WEN DF250i is an inverter generator, and its closed design (L19 x W11.5 x H18.2 in) makes it look better than traditional devices with open frames. The goal of this modern design is to give recreational users the best way to get power. The DF250i is a portable generator that is light and weighs only 48.5 lbs. A single person should be able to move it around easily and get power wherever they go. Its case has a handle that makes it easy to carry. This makes it even more convenient.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Nick Anton started WEN Products, an American power tool manufacturer and distributor, in 1951. WEN Products says that its research in random orbital technology contributed to the creation of current chainsaws, soldering tools, and wet sharpeners. The Illinois-based corporation increased the range of power tools that were available through its distribution network, including presses, drills, and of course, power generators. WEN is a distributor, and the majority of the products in its inventory are branded imports from Asian manufacturers.
Warranty Information
The WEN DF250i has a warranty that lasts up to 2 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.
