Description
A 149 cc OHV 4-stroke engine drives the Powermate PM3000i. It has a 120V output, runs on gas, and has a running wattage of 2,300W and a peak wattage of 3,000W. The pull-start mechanism on the inverter generator is simple and old-fashioned. It has Powermate’s PowerDialTM, a dial that is easy to use and has three settings for how it works. With a full tank, the PM3000i can run for up to 5.8 hours on its 1.06-gallon fuel tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.18 GPH). The PM3000i makes a clean sine wave. Since it has 3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), you can safely plug sensitive electronics into its AC outlets.
Outlets
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet and a 120V 30A (L5-30R) outlet. This Powermate generator has an L5-30R plug, which makes it easy to connect to an RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter. But it’s still not ready for an RV.
Features
The lights let you know if the generator is ready, if it is overloaded, or if it doesn’t have enough oil. When it comes to safety, this product has an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), so you can use it without worry. The Powermate PM3000i comes with a tool kit, funnel, and oil, as well as basic instructions and an owner’s manual that will help you start the generator right away.
Mobility
The Powermate PM3000i is an inverter generator. It measures L22.2 x W13.3 x H18.4 in, and is enclosed. So, it looks better than most other products with open frames. The generator has a modern look and is easy to use when generating power for fun. The PM3000i’s weight of 59.5 lbs. means that you can take it anywhere. It also has a handy handle that is built into the case. This makes it easier to carry the PM3000i from place to place.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
While Powermate’s past is a little mysterious, they assert to have been selling portable generators and other outdoor power equipment for over 40 years. They entered into a contract with the Italian PRAMAC in 2009 under what they refer to as “partnership,” but is actually ownership. Generac purchased Powermate from PRAMAC in 2014.
Warranty Information
A warranty covers the Powermate PM3000i for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.
