Description
The Generac XC6500E is made with a 426 cc Generac G-Force 4-stroke engine that runs on gasoline. With an output of 120/240V, it has a running power of 6,500W and a peak power of 8,125W. It has both a traditional pull-start mechanism and an electric starter that is convenient and easy to use (battery included). With a full tank, the XC6500E can run for about 14 hours at 0.5 load on its 8.5-gallon fuel tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.61 GPH). The XC6500E makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of less than 5%, so it’s safe to plug sensitive electronics into AC outlets (THD).
Outlets
The full GFCI control panel has 6 AC outlets: two 120V 20A (5-20R) duplex outlets, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) outlet, and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) outlet. This Generac generator isn’t quite RV-ready, but it has an L5-30R receptacle that makes it easy to hook it up to an RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter. The XC6500E is also ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. You can easily connect it to your breaker box to power your home when the power goes out.
Features
A digital data center, which is part of the XC6500E’s control panel, lets you check on its status and activity. It also tells you how many hours it has run in its lifetime. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it easy to see at a glance how much gas is in the tank. From a safety point of view, the product has an automatic shut-off for low oil and an overload protection (circuit breaker), so you can use it without worrying. The Generac XC6500E comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual , which lets you start it right away. It also comes with a tool kit, a funnel, and oil.
Mobility
The Generac XC6500E has a traditional, open frame that measures L34.3 x W28.6 x H32.5 in, This frame gives it support and lets it be lifted off the ground. This type of design is great for tough environments and heavy outdoor use. Even though the generator is technically considered to “be portable,” it will be very hard to move it by hand because it weighs 257 pounds (in the sense that it is movable). It is hard to move around, but its wheel kit (dia:10) makes it possible “Once it’s on the floor, it will be easier to move because of the handle that folds down. A lift hook on the top of the frame adds another layer of safety and makes it easier to move, load, and unload the generator.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Founded in 1959, Generac Power Systems is an American manufacturer of power tools and generators. Generac’s primary business is, as its name implies, the manufacture of power generators as well as other electrically related products like switches, paralleling systems, and tiny engines. The corporation has multiple US-based production facilities, thus its goods are produced there. The company, however, doesn’t disclose where the components they use were made.
Warranty Information
The warranty for the Generac XC6500E lasts for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. Generac’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long generators are covered by warranty. You can also call their customer service line at 1-888-GENERAC (888-436-3722).
