Description
The Generac XG10000E has a Generac OHVI 4-stroke engine with 530 cc/18 hp, 120/240V, and a running wattage of 10,000W and a peak wattage of 12,500W. It runs on gasoline. A simple and elegant electric starter gets this generator going (battery included). The XG10000E can run for about 10 hours at 0.5 load on a full tank and 10 gallons of fuel (fuel consumption is approximately 1 GPH). The XG10000E makes a clean sine wave. Since it has 5% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), you can safely plug sensitive electronics into its AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel has 7 AC outlets: two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle, a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle. This Generac generator isn’t quite RV-ready, but it has an L5-30R receptacle that makes it easy to hook it up to an RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter. The XG10000E is also ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. If the power goes out, you can easily connect it to a breaker box and keep your home running.
Features
The data center on the XG10000E’s control panel is one of its many features. It tells you how many hours it has been running and how much power it has put out (via the PowerBarTM), so you can easily keep track of its activity and status. The LED lights on the panel give you even more control and make it easy to use at night. A built-in fuel gauge makes it easy and quick to check how much gas is in the generator. When it comes to safety, this product has an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), so you can use it without worry. The Generac XG10000E comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual to help you start the generator quickly. It also comes with a tool kit and oil, among other things.
Mobility
The Generac XG10000E is 31.2 inches long, 29.5 inches wide, and 31.3 inches high. It has a typical open frame design that makes it stable and allows it to be raised above ground level. The design shown is great for the outdoors and other rough places. Even though the generator is technically “portable” in the sense that it can be moved, it weighs 300 pounds, so lifting and moving it by hand may be hard. It is hard to move around, but its wheel kit (dia:10) makes it possible “Once it’s on the floor, it will be easier to move because of the handle that folds down.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Generac Power Systems is an American company that has been around since 1959. It makes generators and other power equipment. Generac’s main focus, as the name suggests, is on power generators and other electrical equipment like switches, paralleling systems, and small engines. The company has a number of factories in the US, so all of its products are made there. But the company doesn’t say anything about where their parts come from.
Warranty Information
The warranty for the Generac XG10000E lasts for up to 2 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. Generac’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long generators are covered by warranty. You can also call their customer service line at 1-888-GENERAC (888-436-3722).
