Description
The gasoline-powered Generac OHV 4-stroke engine with 212 cc is the heart of the Generac GP3600. It has a 120V output and a running power of 3,600W and a peak power of 4,500W. A traditional pull-start mechanism gets this generator going. With a full tank, the GP3600 can run for about 9.3 hours at 0.5 load (using about 0.4 GPH of fuel). This is because it can hold 3.7 gallons of fuel. Due to its high THD (25%), the GP3600 shouldn’t be used to power sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel has 5 AC outlets, which are as follows: Two Duplexes 120V 20A (5-20R); 120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle. Even though this Generac generator isn’t quite RV Ready, an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter makes it easy to connect it to an RV.
Features
A digital data center, which is part of the GP3600’s control panel, lets you check on its status and activity. It also tells you how many hours it has run in its lifetime. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to find out how much gas is in it. As far as safety goes, the device has an automatic shut-off for low oil and a circuit breaker for overheating, so you can use it without worrying. The Generac GP3600 package comes with basic paperwork and an owner’s manual that will help you start the generator right away. It also comes with a tool kit, oil, and a funnel.
Mobility
The Generac GP3600 is 24 inches long, 22.5 inches wide, and 21.3 inches high. It has a typical open frame design that makes it stable and allows it to be raised above ground level. This type of design is great for tough environments and heavy outdoor use. The generator is technically “portable” because it can be moved, but at 105 pounds, it may be hard to move it by hand. Once it is on the ground, it can still be moved easily with the help of its wheel kit (diameter: 8″) and its folding handle.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Founded in 1959, Generac Power Systems is an American manufacturer of power tools and generators. Generac’s primary business is, as its name implies, the manufacture of power generators as well as other electrically related products like switches, paralleling systems, and tiny engines. The corporation has multiple US-based production facilities, thus its goods are produced there. The company, however, doesn’t disclose where the components they use were made.
Warranty Information
The warranty for the Generac GP3600 lasts for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. Generac’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long generators are covered by warranty. You can also call their customer service line at 1-888-GENERAC (888-436-3722).
