Description
The dual-fuel technology of the DuroMax XP13000HX allows for an output of 120/240V and provides superb power and versatility. If gasoline-powered, the device provides a running wattage of 10,500W and a starting wattage of 13,000W. If propane-powered, it gives 9975 rated watts and 12350 starting watts. The generator has both a simple and elegant pull-start mechanism and an electric starter (battery included). It has a noise level of 74 dBA (slightly noisier than running a dishwasher As for its running time, the XP13000HX, along with its 8.3 gallons fuel capacity, can run for around 8.5 hours at 0.5 load with a full tank filled with gasoline (fuel consumption is approximately 0.98 GPH) (fuel consumption is approximately 0.98 GPH). If propane is used, it can operate for around 3.2 hours (on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 1.47 GPH) (on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 1.47 GPH). As the XP13000HX has a relatively high THD (<12%), it is not recommended to use it to power sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
Two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle, a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle are all on the control panel. Even though this DuroMax generator isn’t quite RV Ready, an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter makes it easy to connect it to an RV. Also, the XP13000HX has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, which makes it ready for a transfer switch. It can power your home during a power outage because it is easy to connect to your breaker box.
Features
The status and activity of the XP13000HX can be easily checked on the control panel, which has a meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours. In addition to this information, a light lets you know right away if the oil level is too low. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in it. As for safety features, the device has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without worry. The XP13000HX also has the CO Alert carbon monoxide shut-off feature from DuroMax. If CO levels get too high too quickly, the generator will shut down automatically, a red light will come on, and the engine won’t start again for 5 minutes. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. The DuroMax XP13000HX package comes with basic paperwork and an owner’s manual that will help you start the generator right away. It also comes with a propane hose, a funnel, and a tool kit.
Mobility
The DuroMax XP13000HX has the following dimensions: L29 x W30 x H26 in, Together with its traditional, open-frame design, they support the generator and allow it to be raised above the ground. The generator is built to work well outside and in rough places. The generator weighs 242 pounds, so it may be hard to move or transport it by hand, even though it is technically a “portable” generator (movable). But its wheels and folding handle make it easier to move once it’s on the floor.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Duromax is a small company in the United States that makes power tools. Its headquarters are in Ontario, California. Duromax makes pumps, engines, pressure washers, and, most importantly, power generators. In this way, the company only makes portable generators and devices that can use both gas and electricity as fuel. The generators made by Duromax are designed and serviced in the US, but their production is done in other countries. Since its start in 2003, DuroMax is becoming known as a major player in the market for power generators.
