Description
The DuroMax XP13000E has a 500cc, 20hp DuroMax OHV 4-stroke engine that provides 120/240V, runs on gasoline, and puts out 10,500W at full power and 13,000W when running. The generator has both a pull-start mechanism and an electric starter that is easy to use and convenient (battery included). It has a noise level of 74 dBA (A tad noisier than a vacuum cleaner). The XP13000E can operate for around 8.5 hours at 0.5 load with a full tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.98 GPH), due to its fuel capacity of 8.3 gallons. The powering of sensitive electronic devices with the XP13000E is not recommended due to its relatively high THD (<12%).
Outlets
The control panel has 5 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI outlet, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) outlet, a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) outlet, and a 120/240V 50A (14-50R) outlet. Also, it has 1 DC outlet: a 12V 8A receptacle that looks like a cigarette lighter. This makes it easy to charge your batteries. This DuroMax generator isn’t quite RV-ready, but it has an L5-30R receptacle that makes it easy to hook it up to an RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter. The XP13000E is also transfer switch ready because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. You can easily connect it to your breaker box to power your home when the power goes out.
Features
The control center of the XP13000E has a handy meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours. This helps you keep track of its status and activity. In addition to this, the featured light indicator will let you know when the oil level is too low. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in the machine. In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off when the oil level gets too low. While the standard documentation and an owner’s manual , helpful for starting the device promptly, come with the DuroMax XP13000E, the following accessories are also included: battery charging cables, funnel and tool kit. You can also buy a storage cover that is made by the company.
Mobility
The DuroMax XP13000E is 29 inches long, 30 inches wide, and 26 inches high. Together with its traditional, open-frame design, they support the generator and allow it to be raised above the ground. This type of design is great for tough environments and heavy outdoor use. Even though this generator is technically “portable” in the sense that it can be moved, its weight of 232 pounds makes it very hard to move by hand. Still, the generator is easy to move once it’s on the ground, thanks to its wheel kit and folding handle, which is a good way to make up for its lack of maneuverability.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Duromax is a small company in the United States that makes power tools. Its headquarters are in Ontario, California. Duromax makes pumps, engines, pressure washers, and, most importantly, power generators. In this way, the company only makes portable generators and devices that can use both gas and electricity as fuel. The generators made by Duromax are designed and serviced in the US, but their production is done in other countries. Since its start in 2003, DuroMax is becoming known as a major player in the market for power generators.
