Description
The DuroMax XP11500EH’s dual-fuel technology lets it put out 120/240V and gives it a lot of power and flexibility. If the device is powered by gasoline, it has a running power of 9,000W and a starting power of 11,500W. If it runs on propane, it has a rated power of 8550 watts and a starting power of 10925 watts. This generator has a noise level of 72 dBA, which is just a little louder than a vacuum cleaner. It can be started with a simple pull-start mechanism or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). With a fuel capacity of 8.3 gallons, the XP11500EH can run for about 8 hours at 0.5 load on gasoline (using about 1.04 GPH of fuel), or about 3 hours on a 20 lb tank (using about 1.57 GPH of propane). The XP11500EH can’t be used to power sensitive electronics because its THD is quite high (12%).
Outlets
The control panel has 5 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI outlet, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) outlet, a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) outlet, and a 120/240V 50A (14-50R) outlet. Even though this DuroMax generator isn’t quite RV Ready, its L5-30R receptacle makes it easy to connect to an RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Also, the XP11500EH is ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. It is easy to connect to a breaker box and can power your home if the power goes out.
Features
The XP11500EH’s control panel has a handy meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours. This makes it easy to keep track of its status and activity. In addition to this information, the device’s light indicator will show if there isn’t enough oil. A built-in fuel gauge makes it easy and quick to check how much gas is in the generator. In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off when the oil level gets too low. The DuroMax XP11500EH comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual to help you start the generator quickly. It also comes with a funnel, a tool kit, and a propane hose.
Mobility
The DuroMax XP11500EH has a typical open frame that is 29 inches long, 30 inches wide, and 26 inches high. This gives it support and stability and gives you the option of raising it above ground level. The design shown is great for the outdoors and other rough places. Even though this generator is technically “portable” in the sense that it can be moved, its weight of 224 pounds makes it very hard to move by hand. Still, the generator is easy to move once it’s on the ground, thanks to its wheel kit and folding handle, which is a good way to make up for its lack of maneuverability.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Small American power equipment manufacturer Duromax is headquartered in Ontario, California. Pumps, engines, pressure washers, and power generators are among the many goods in which Duromax excels. The company’s only concentration in this area is on portable generators, primarily those with small and medium power outputs as well as dual fuel devices. Although construction of Duromax generators is outsourced to other countries, they are designed and serviced in the US. DuroMax, which was established in 2003, has begun to emerge as a significant force in the market for power generators.
