Description
The A-iPower SUA3800i is run by a Senci OHV 4-stroke engine with 223 cc and 7 hp. It has a 120V output, runs on gas, and has a running wattage of 3,500W and a peak wattage of 3,800W. The device can also work in parallel (the IPBS8000 parallel kit is not included), so it can be connected to a similar or compatible unit to get more power. The pull-start mechanism on the inverter generator is simple and old-fashioned. It has a noise level of 63 dBA (a little louder than background music). Due to its 2.6-gallon fuel tank, the SUA3800i can run for up to 12 hours on a full tank (it uses about 0.22 GPH of fuel per hour). The SUA3800i makes a clean sine wave. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 3%, you can safely plug your sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.

The control panel has 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) receptacle, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle, and a 120V 20A (5-20R) receptacle. It also has 2 DC outlets: a 5V USB port (USB-A) that makes it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets, and a 12V 8A receptacle that looks like a cigarette lighter that makes it easy to charge batteries. This A-iPower generator is not RV Ready, but an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor can be used to connect it to an RV easily (included).

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
