Description
With its dual-fuel technology, the A-iPower SUA12000ED is a powerful and versatile generator that can put out either 120V or 240V. Even though it runs on gasoline, it has a running wattage of 9,000W and a peak wattage of 12,000. It runs on propane and has a rated power of 8100 watts and a starting power of 10800 watts. Switch On Demand is a feature of A-iPower that lets you switch from gasoline to propane or propane to gasoline while the generator is running. This generator has a noise level of 69 dBA, which is quieter than background music. It can be started with both a pull-start mechanism and an electric starter that is easy to use (battery included). As for how long it can run, the SUA12000ED can run for about 8.5 hours at 0.5 load with a full tank of gasoline and a 7-gallon fuel capacity (fuel consumption is approximately 0.82 GPH). It can run for about 10 hours if propane is used (on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 0.47 GPH). Due to its relatively high THD (23%), the SUA12000ED can’t be used to power sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
There are 6 AC outlets on the control panel: two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes, a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle. It also has 1 DC outlet: a 12V 8A receptacle that looks like a cigarette lighter so you can easily charge your batteries. The SUA12000ED is ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. It can be easily connected to a breaker box and can power your home if the power goes out.
Features
The SUA12000ED’s control panel has a digital data center that helps you keep track of its status and activity by giving you information about how long it has been running. In addition to this information, a light shows you if there isn’t enough oil. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it easy to see at a glance how much gas is in the tank. As far as safety goes, the device has an automatic shut-off for low oil and a circuit breaker for overheating, so you can use it without worrying. The A-iPower SUA12000ED comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual , which lets you start it right away. It also comes with a tool kit, a propane hose, oil, and battery charging cables.
Mobility
The A-iPower SUA12000ED has a traditional, open frame that measures L27.9 x W27.2 x H25.9 in, This frame gives it support and lets it be lifted off the ground. The design shown is great for the outdoors and other rough places. Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it weighs 228 pounds and can be hard to move and use without special tools. Still, because of its wheel kit (dia:9.5), “Once the generator is on the ground, it is easy to move thanks to its wheels and folding handle, which make up for its lack of maneuverability.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
A-iPower, a small US-based business, is a new player in the generator industry. They sell engines, water pumps, pressure washers, and of course generators as part of their product line. Numerous conventional and inverted portable generators, many of which feature an electric starter, are available from A-iPower. The business has a number of locations, including a distribution hub in Wisconsin and a headquarters in California. But the entire manufacturing of their products is outsourced to China.
Warranty Information
A warranty covers the A-iPower SUA12000ED for up to 2 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. A-iPower generators come with a warranty that you can find out more about by calling A-iPower Customer Support at 1-855-888-3598. Check A-ipower Website for more information.
