Description
The Westinghouse iGen4500c has a 224 cc Westinghouse OHV 4-stroke engine that puts out 120V, runs on gasoline, and puts out 3,700W while running and 4,500W at its peak. Also, the device can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel cord), so it can be linked to a similar or compatible unit for more power. This inverter generator has a noise rating of 52 dBA, which is just a little bit louder than rain. It can be started with a simple pull-start mechanism or with an easy-to-use electric starter (battery included). For even more convenience, you can also start the iGen4500c from a distance (key fob included). The iGen4500c can run for up to 18 hours on a full tank of 3.4 gallons of fuel (fuel consumption is approximately 0.19 GPH). The iGen4500c makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of less than 3%, so it’s safe to plug sensitive electronics into AC outlets (THD).
Outlets
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets for: Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R); 120V 30A (TT-30R) receptacle. It also has 2 DC outlets: two 5V USB-A ports that make it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets. Because it has a TT-30R plug (TT stands for “Travel Trailer”), this Westinghouse generator is ready for an RV.
Features
The iGen4500c’s control panel has a digital data center that shows the remaining run time, lifetime run hours, fuel level, power output, and voltage. This lets you keep track of its status and activity. In addition to this information, some lights let you know right away if the generator is overloaded, if its oil level is too low, or if it is ready. In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has an automatic shut-off for low oil and an overload protection (circuit breaker). It also has a sensor for carbon monoxide. This sensor is meant to measure the amount of carbon monoxide in the air while the generator is running. If the generator isn’t set up right and carbon monoxide levels get too high, the generator will turn off by itself. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. The Westinghouse iGen4500c comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual , which lets you start it right away. It also comes with a battery charger, funnel, tool kit, oil, and a key fob. You can also buy a separate cover for storing the chair.
Mobility
Since the Westinghouse iGen4500c is an inverter generator, its enclosed design (L24.5 x W17.5 x H20 in) looks better than a traditional open frame product. The goal of this modern design is to give recreational users the best way to get power. Even though the generator is technically considered to “be portable,” it will be very hard to move it by hand because it weighs 105.8 pounds (in the sense that it is movable). But the lack of maneuverability is made up for by its two wheels (5.5″ diameter) and telescopic handle, which make it easy to move once it’s on the ground.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
The Westinghouse Electric Corporation was established in 1886, and its heritage business, Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment, is situated in the US. The Westinghouse name continues to be the brand name for many of its electrical solutions, which range throughout the scale from power plants to portable generators, despite the fact that the firm has been acquired and integrated into the American CBS. The primary product of Westinghouse’s Outdoor Power Equipment division, portable generators were previously produced by Westpro Power Systems, which Midwest Equipment acquired in 2016. Under the Westinghouse brand, lawn tools including trimmers and blowers are also offered for sale. Their entire line of items is American-designed. However, according to a number of sites, they are frequently made in China.
