Description
The WEN 56450i is made with a 212 cc OHV 4-stroke engine that runs on gasoline. It has a 120V output and a running power of 3,500W and a peak power of 4,500W. Also, since the generator can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel kit), it can be linked to a second unit to make more power. The noise level of the inverter generator is set at 58 dBA (less noisy than a conversation at home). It uses a simple, traditional pull-start mechanism to get going. With a full tank, the 56450i can run for about 8.5 hours at 0.5 load on its 2.2-gallon fuel tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.26 GPH). As the 56450i puts out a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 1.2%, you can safely plug sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel has 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet, a 120V 30A (TT-30R) outlet, and a 120V 20A (TT-20R) outlet. It also has 3 DC outlets: a 12V 8A receptacle (like a cigarette lighter), which makes it easy to charge your batteries, and two 5V USB ports (USB-A), which make it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets. This WEN generator is ready for an RV because it has a TT-30R plug (TT stands for “Travel Trailer”).
Features
The 56450i’s control panel has a digital data center that shows the number of run hours, fuel level, power output, frequency, and voltage. This lets you keep track of the machine’s status and activity. In addition to this information, the generator’s lights will let you know when it’s ready, when it’s too full, and when the oil level is too low. The fuel shutoff feature stops the flow of fuel, which lets the 56450i use up the last of the fuel in the carburetor before shutting down automatically. This helps prevent the buildup and blockages that can happen when fuel sits in the carburetor for too long. This makes the unit last longer and requires less maintenance. From a safety point of view, the product has an automatic shut-off for low oil and an overload protection (circuit breaker), so you can use it without worrying. - We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).

About the Manufacturer
Nick Anton started WEN Products, an American power tool manufacturer and distributor, in 1951. WEN Products says that its research in random orbital technology contributed to the creation of current chainsaws, soldering tools, and wet sharpeners. The Illinois-based corporation increased the range of power tools that were available through its distribution network, including presses, drills, and of course, power generators.
