Description
The Generac GP2500i has a 98cc OHV 4-stroke engine that runs on gasoline and can put out 120V. It has a running power of 2,200W and a maximum power of 2,500W. It can also work in parallel (7118 parallel kit not included), which means that if it is linked to a second compatible unit, its power can be doubled. This inverter generator is started with a simple pull-start mechanism that has been around for a long time. Because it can hold 1 gallon of fuel, the GP2500i can run for up to 8 hours on a full tank (it uses about 0.13 GPH). The GP2500i makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of less than 3%, so it’s safe to plug sensitive electronics into AC outlets (THD).
Outlets
On the control panel, there are two 120V 20A duplex outlets (5-20R). It also has 3 DC outlets: two 5V USB ports that make it easy to charge devices like cell phones or tablets, and a 12V 8A receptacle that makes it easy to charge your batteries.
Features
The device has lights that show if the generator is ready, if the oil level is too low, or if it is overloaded. As far as safety goes, the device has an automatic shut-off for low oil and a circuit breaker for overheating, so you can use it without worrying. The Generac GP2500i comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual , which lets you start it right away. It also comes with a funnel, a tool kit, oil and battery charging cables.
Mobility
Since the Generac GP2500i is an inverter generator, its enclosed design (L19.7 x W11.4 x H17.9 in) looks better than a traditional open frame product. The generator has a modern look and is easy to use when generating power for fun. The GP2500i is called a lightweight portable generator because it only weighs 48 lbs. The power of the product can be used on the go, since it is easy for one person to move. Its case has a handle that makes it easy to carry. This makes it even more convenient.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Founded in 1959, Generac Power Systems is an American manufacturer of power tools and generators. Generac’s primary business is, as its name implies, the manufacture of power generators as well as other electrically related products like switches, paralleling systems, and tiny engines. The corporation has multiple US-based production facilities, thus its goods are produced there. The company, however, doesn’t disclose where the components they use were made.
Warranty Information
The warranty for the Generac GP2500i lasts for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. Generac’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long generators are covered by warranty. You can also call their customer service line at 1-888-GENERAC (888-436-3722).
