Description
The gasoline-powered Yamaha MZ80 OHV 4-stroke engine is at the heart of the Yamaha EF2200iS. It has a 120V output and a running power of 1,800W and a peak power of 2,200W. Also, since it can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a Twin Tech cable), its power can be doubled by connecting it to a second unit that works with it. The noise level of the inverter generator is set at 57 dBA (lower decibel levels than rain). It uses a simple, traditional pull-start mechanism to get going. Yamaha’s Smart ThrottleTM is built into this generator. This load-sensing feature automatically changes the speed of the engine to match how much it is being used. This saves fuel and reduces noise. With its 1.24-gallon fuel tank, the EF2200iS can run for up to 10.5 hours on a full tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.12 GPH). The EF2200iS makes a clean sine wave. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 2.5%, you can safely plug your sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Outlets
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets for: Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R); 120V 30A (TT-30R) receptacle. It also has 1 DC outlet: a 12V 3A receptacle that looks like a cigarette lighter so you can easily charge your batteries. This Yamaha generator is ready for an RV because it has a TT-30R plug, where TT stands for “Travel Trailer”.
Features
The EF2200iS’s control panel has a digital data center that tells you how much power it is putting out so you can keep track of its status and activity. In addition to this information, the device’s lights will show if the generator is too busy or if it doesn’t have enough oil. The inverter generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it easy to see at a glance how much gas is in the tank. As far as safety goes, the device has an automatic shut-off for low oil and a circuit breaker for overheating, so you can use it without worrying. It also has a sensor for carbon monoxide. This sensor is meant to measure the amount of carbon monoxide in the air while the generator is running. If the generator isn’t set up right and carbon monoxide levels get too high, the generator will turn off by itself. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. In addition to the features we’ve already talked about, the Yamaha EF2200iS comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual , so you can use it right away.
Mobility
The encased inverter generator design of the Yamaha EF2200iS (L21.9 x W11.8 x H18.5 in) makes it look better than any ordinary open frame product. The goal of this modern design is to give recreational users the best way to get power. With a dry weight of 55.2 lbs, the EF2200iS’s power can be used anywhere. Also, the EF2200iS is easier to move from point A to point B because it has a handy triple handle that is built into the case and gives you a much better grip.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
The Japanese-based Yamaha Corporation, established in 1887, has a lengthy history spanning more than 130 years and has a hand in just about every sector imaginable, most notably motorbikes, musical instruments, and electronics. Many of the best portable generators are among the company’s diverse offering of goods. Many of the more recent versions, it has been said, are built in China rather than Japan.
Warranty Information
There is a warranty on the Yamaha EF2200iS for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. Yamaha’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long the warranty on a Yamaha generator lasts. You can also call their customer service line at 1-800-962-7926.
