Description
With its powerful and flexible dual-fuel technology, the Westinghouse WGen5300DFcv can put out either 120V or 240V. Even though it runs on gasoline, it has a running wattage of 5,300W and a peak wattage of 6,500W. It is powered by propane and has a rated power of 4800 watts and a starting power of 5800 watts. This generator has a noise rating of 68 dBA, which is less loud than background music. It starts up with a simple pull-start mechanism. With a full tank of gasoline, the WGen5300DFcv, which has a fuel capacity of 4.7 gallons, can run for about 11 hours at 0.5 load (fuel consumption is approximately 0.43 GPH). If propane is used, it can run for about 9 hours (on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 0.52 GPH). Due to its relatively high THD (23%), the WGen5300DFcv is not a good choice to power sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel has 4 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet, a 120V 30A (TT-30R) outlet, and a 120V/240V 30A (L14-30R) outlet. This Westinghouse generator is ready for an RV because it has a TT-30R plug, which stands for “Travel Trailer”. The WGen5300DFcv is also ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. You can connect it to a breaker box to power your home when the power goes out.
Features
The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it easy to see at a glance how much gas is in the tank. From a safety point of view, the product has a circuit breaker for overload protection and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without worry. It also has a sensor for carbon monoxide. This sensor is meant to measure the amount of carbon monoxide in the air while the generator is running. If the generator isn’t set up right and carbon monoxide levels get too high, the generator will turn off by itself. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. The Westinghouse WGen5300DFcv comes with standard paperwork and an owner’s manual that will help you get the device up and running quickly. Mobility
The Westinghouse WGen5300DFcv is 23.1 inches long, 20.1 inches wide, and 19.1 inches high. Together with its traditional, open-frame design, they support the generator and allow it to be raised above the ground. The design shown is great for the outdoors and other rough places. The generator weighs 135.6 pounds, so it may be hard to move or transport it by hand, even though it is technically considered “portable” (movable). But its wheel kit and folding handle make it easy to move once it’s on the ground, which makes up for its lack of maneuverability.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
