Description
The Sportsman GEN7500DF-SS has 120/240V and is powerful and versatile thanks to its dual-fuel technology. When powered by gasoline, it has a running wattage of 6,000W and a maximum wattage of 7,500W. When run on propane, it has a rated power of 5400 watts and a peak power of 6700 watts. This generator has a noise level of 80 dBA, which is about the same as an alarm clock. It can be started with a pull-start mechanism or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery not included). With a fuel capacity of 6.2 gallons, the GEN7500DF-SS can run for about 9 hours at 0.5 load on gasoline (using about 0.69 GPH), or about 5 hours on a 20-pound propane tank (using about 0.94 GPH).
Outlets
There are 6 AC outlets on the control panel: two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes, a 120V 30A (TT-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle. Also, it has 1 DC outlet, which is a 12V 8A receptacle that makes it easy to charge your batteries. This Sportsman generator is ready for an RV because it has a TT-30R plug (TT stands for “Travel Trailer”). The GEN7500DF-SS also has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, which makes it ready for a transfer switch. This means that it can power your home when the power goes out, as it can be easily connected to your breaker box.
Features
The status and activity of the GEN7500DF-SS can be easily checked on the control panel. It has a handy voltmeter that lets you check the power output at any time. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it easy to see at a glance how much gas is in the tank. As for safety features, the device has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without worry. The Sportsman GEN7500DF-SS comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual to help you start the generator quickly. It also comes with a tool kit, battery charging cables, a propane hose, and a funnel.
Mobility
The Sportsman GEN7500DF-SS has a typical open frame that measures L26.5 x W19.5 x H18 in, This gives it support and stability and gives you the option to raise it off the ground. The design shown is great for the outdoors and other rough places. The generator weighs 194 pounds, so it may be hard to move or transport it by hand, even though it is technically considered “portable” (movable). Once it is on the ground, it can still be moved easily with the help of its wheels and folding handle.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
