Description
The Rainier R4400DF is powerful and versatile, and its 120V and dual-fuel technology give it both. When powered by gasoline, it has a running wattage of 3,600W and a maximum wattage of 4,400W. When powered by propane, it has a rated 3300 watts and a peak 4000 watts. The generator has a noise level of 69 dBA, which is quieter than an office. It has a simple pull-start mechanism as well as an easy-to-use electric starter (battery included). With a fuel capacity of 4 gallons, the R4400DF can run on gasoline for up to 18 hours (using about 0.22 GPH) or on propane for up to 11 hours (using about 0.43 GPH) on a 20-lb tank. Since the R4400DF has a THD of about 23%, it shouldn’t be used to power electronics that are sensitive to noise.
Outlets
On the control panel, there are 4 AC outlets for: Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R); 120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle; 120V 30A (TT-30R) receptacle. The TT-30R plug on this Rainier generator is ready for an RV. TT stands for “Travel Trailer”.
Features
The R4400DF’s control panel has a handy meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours so you can keep an eye on its status and activity. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it easy to see at a glance how much gas is in the tank. When it comes to safety, this product has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without any worries. In addition to the usual paperwork and owner’s manual to get you up and running quickly, Rainier also included a propane hose with the R4400DF.
Mobility
The Rainier R4400DF has a traditional, open frame that measures L23.5 x W23 x H21 in, This frame gives it support and lets it be lifted off the ground. The generator is built to work well outside and in rough places. Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it can be hard to move and use without special tools because it weighs 113 pounds. But this lack of maneuverability is made up for by its 8-inch wheel kit and folding handle, which make it easy to move once it’s on the ground.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
