Description
The Pulsar PG6580ECO has a 274 cc (9 hp) Ducar OHV 4-stroke engine that provides 120/240V, uses gasoline, and puts out 5,300W at full power and 6,580W when running. The generator can make up to 75 dBA of noise (slightly noisier than running a dishwasher It has both a simple pull-start mechanism and an electric starter that is easy to use and convenient (battery included). With a full tank, the PG6580ECO can run for about 10 hours at 0.5 load (using about 0.52 GPH of fuel). This is because it has a 5.2-gallon fuel capacity.
Outlets
Two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplex outlets and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle are on the control panel. It also has 1 DC outlet with a 12V 8A output that makes it easy to charge your batteries. The PG6580ECO is ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. If the power goes out, you can easily connect it to a breaker box and keep your home running.
Features
The PG6580ECO’s control panel has a handy meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours so you can keep an eye on its status and activity. In addition to this information, the device’s light indicator will show if there isn’t enough oil. A built-in fuel gauge makes it easy and quick to check how much gas is in the generator. As for safety features, the device has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without worry. The unit also works well because Pulsar’s CO Sentry can detect carbon monoxide. The sensor checks to see if poisonous carbon monoxide gas is building up around the generator, and if it is, it turns off the engine. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. The Pulsar PG6580ECO comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual , so you can start using it right away. It also comes with a funnel and a tool kit.
Mobility
The Pulsar PG6580ECO is L26.6 x W19.7 x H18.7 in,, and it has a typical open frame design that makes it stable and allows it to be lifted off the ground. The design works well in rough places and for hard outdoor use. Even though the generator is technically considered to “be portable,” it will be very hard to move it by hand because it weighs 140 pounds (in the sense that it is movable). Still, its wheel kit (dia:12) makes it easy to move “) and its handle that folds up, once it’s on the ground.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
A good selection of air compressors, pressure washers, and of course generators are available from Pulsar Products Inc., a firm situated in California, USA. Their models vary from 1,2 kW to 10 kW and include dual fuel and RV-Ready designs. The US is home to a number of Pulsar facilities, including two distribution centers, one in Illinois and one in California. However, it appears that Asia is where they outsource the production of their goods.
Warranty Information
A warranty covers the Pulsar PG6580ECO for up to 2 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. Pulsar generators come with a warranty that you can learn more about by calling Pulsar Customer Support at 1-866-591-8921.
