Description
The Pulsar PG4500BiSRCO has 120V and a lot of power and versatility thanks to its dual-fuel technology. When powered by gasoline, it has a running wattage of 3,700W and a maximum wattage of 4,500W. When powered by propane, it has a rated 3330 watts and a peak of 4050 watts. Also, since it can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel kit), this power can be increased by connecting it to another unit that works with it. With Pulsar’s patented Switch & Go technology, you can switch from propane to gasoline or from gasoline to propane while the generator is running. This inverter generator has a noise level of 64 dBA, which is just a little louder than a normal conversation. It can be started with a pull-start mechanism or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). The PG4500BiSRCO can also be started from a distance, which makes it even more convenient (key fob included). With a fuel capacity of 3.2 gallons, the PG4500BiSRCO can run for about 7 hours at 0.5 load on a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption is approximately 0.46 GPH). With propane, it can last up to about 8 hours (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 0.59 GPH). The PG4500BiSRCO makes a clean sine wave. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 3%, you can safely plug your sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Outlets
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet and a 120V 30A (TT-30R) outlet. It also has 1 DC outlet, which is a 5V USB port (USB-A) that makes it easy to charge devices like cell phones or tablets. This Pulsar generator is ready for an RV because it has a TT-30R plug (TT means “Travel Trailer”).
Features
The lights will let you know when the generator is overloaded, when it is ready to go, and when the oil level is too low. For safety, the generator has an overload protection (circuit breaker) and an automatic low oil shut-off, so you can use it without worrying. The unit also works well because Pulsar’s CO Sentry can detect carbon monoxide. The sensor checks to see if poisonous carbon monoxide gas is building up around the generator, and if it is, it turns off the engine. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. Pulsar included a key fob with the PG4500BiSRCO, along with the usual paperwork and owner’s manual to get you up and running quickly.
Mobility
The Pulsar PG4500BiSRCO is an inverter generator with the following dimensions: L24.5 x W18.7 x H21.1 in, So, it looks better than most other products with open frames. The design shown here is in line with the latest trends and is great for easy and fun use. Even though this generator is technically “portable” in the sense that it can be moved, it is very hard to move by hand because it weighs 103 pounds. Still, once it is on the ground, its set of two wheels (diameter: 5.5″) and its telescopic handle can easily solve the problem of low mobility and make it easy to move the device.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
A good selection of air compressors, pressure washers, and of course generators are available from Pulsar Products Inc., a firm situated in California, USA. Their models vary from 1,2 kW to 10 kW and include dual fuel and RV-Ready designs. The US is home to a number of Pulsar facilities, including two distribution centers, one in Illinois and one in California. However, it appears that Asia is where they outsource the production of their goods.
Warranty Information
There is a warranty on the Pulsar PG4500BiSRCO for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. Pulsar generators come with a warranty that you can learn more about by calling Pulsar Customer Support at 1-866-591-8921.
