Description
The 224 cc (8 hp) Ducar OHV 4-stroke engine on the Pulsar PG4000iSR runs on gasoline and can put out 120V. It has a running power of 3,500W and a maximum power of 4,000W. It can also work in parallel (PGiPAIRB3 parallel kit not included), which means that its power can be increased by connecting it to a second compatible unit. The noise level of the inverter generator is set at 63 dBA (a little louder than background music). It has a simple pull-start mechanism and a simple and elegant electric starter to get it going (battery included). The PG4000iSR can also be started from a distance for added convenience (key fob included). The PG4000iSR can run for about 12 hours at 0.5 load on a full tank and 3.4 gallons of fuel (fuel consumption is approximately 0.28 GPH). As the PG4000iSR makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 5%, you can safely plug sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Outlets
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets for: Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R); 120V 30A (TT-30R) receptacle. It also has 2 DC outlets: a 5V USB port that makes it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets, and a 12V 8A receptacle that looks like a cigarette lighter and lets you easily charge your batteries. This Pulsar generator is RV ready because it has a TT-30R plug, where TT stands for “Travel Trailer”.
Features
Several lights let you know when the generator is too busy, when the oil level is too low, and when it’s ready to go. When it comes to safety, this product has an automatic low oil shut-off that lets you use it without any worries. The Pulsar PG4000iSR comes with standard paperwork and an owner’s manual that will help you get the device up and running quickly. It also comes with a tool kit, a key fob, battery charging cables, a funnel, and oil.
Mobility
The encased inverter generator design of the Pulsar PG4000iSR (L30 x W20 x H21 in) makes it look better than any ordinary open frame product. The goal of this modern design is to give recreational users the best way to get power. The PG4000iSR’s dry weight of 92.6 lbs lets you use it anywhere you need to. Also, once it’s on the ground, it’s easy to move with the help of its two wheels and telescoping handle.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
A good selection of air compressors, pressure washers, and of course generators are available from Pulsar Products Inc., a firm situated in California, USA. Their models vary from 1,2 kW to 10 kW and include dual fuel and RV-Ready designs. The US is home to a number of Pulsar facilities, including two distribution centers, one in Illinois and one in California. However, it appears that Asia is where they outsource the production of their goods.
Warranty Information
A warranty covers the Pulsar PG4000iSR for up to a year. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. Pulsar generators come with a warranty that you can learn more about by calling Pulsar Customer Support at 1-866-591-8921.
