Description
The Powerhorse LC3500i is run by a Loncin OHV 4-stroke engine with 212 cc and 6.1 hp. It has a 120V output, runs on gas, and has a running wattage of 3,000W and a peak wattage of 3,500W. Also, since it can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel kit), its power can be doubled by connecting it to a second unit that works with it. The noise level of the inverter generator is set at 57 dBA (The noise level is lower than that of a refrigerator). It has both a simple pull-start mechanism and an electric starter that is easy to use and convenient (battery included). The LC3500i can run for up to 11 hours on a full tank of fuel, which is 2.6 gallons (fuel consumption is approximately 0.24 GPH). The LC3500i makes a clean sine wave. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 2%, you can safely plug sensitive electronics into its AC outlets.
Outlets
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet and a 120V 30A (L5-30R) outlet. Also, it has 1 DC outlet: a 12V 10A receptacle that lets you charge your batteries easily. This Powerhorse generator isn’t quite RV Ready, but it has an L5-30R receptacle that makes it easy to connect to an RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter.
Features
The LC3500i’s status and activity can be tracked with the help of a digital data center, which is part of its control panel. The data center gives information on the lifetime run hours, power output, and voltage. In addition to this information, the device’s lights will show if the generator is overloaded, if it doesn’t have enough oil, or if it’s ready. In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off when the oil level gets too low. The Powerhorse LC3500i comes with a tool kit, battery charging cables, and a funnel, as well as the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual to get you up and running quickly.
Mobility
Since the Powerhorse LC3500i is an inverter generator, its enclosed design (L22.8 x W17.3 x H20.1 in) looks better than a traditional open frame product. The goal of this modern design is to give recreational users the best way to get power. Since the LC3500i only weighs 99.2 pounds, it can go anywhere you and your power needs do. Also, once it’s on the ground, you can move it easily with its four wheels and double handle.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
The Northern Tool & Equipment Company Inc. owns and distributes gas-powered outdoor equipment under the Powerhorse brand name through its physical stores and website. Among the gas- and electric-powered instruments offered by Powerhorse are pressure washers, wood chippers and shredders, log splitters, electric generators, and inverters. Water pumps and engines are also available in the product line. The tagline of the company is “Power You Can Depend On”. Although they are produced in China, Powerhorse generators are designed, developed, and tested in Minnesota.
