Description
The heart of the Firman P05701 is a gasoline-powered 389 cc Firman Max-Pro Series OHV 4-stroke engine. It has a 120V/240V output and a running power of 5,700W and a peak power of 7,125W. The generator has a noise level of 74 dBA, which is just a little louder than a dishwasher. It is started with a simple pull-start mechanism. With a full tank, the P05701 can run for about 12 hours at 0.5 load (using about 0.67 GPH of fuel). This is because it has an 8-gallon fuel capacity. Since the P05701 has a THD of about 25%, it shouldn’t be used to power electronics that are sensitive to noise.
Outlets
There are 6 AC outlets on the control panel: two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle. Even though this Firman generator is not RV Ready, an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter can be used to easily connect it to an RV. The P05701 also has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, which makes it ready for a transfer switch. You can easily connect it to your breaker box to power your home when the power goes out.
Features
The P05701’s control center has a handy meter that shows voltage, frequency, and the number of hours it has been used. This helps you keep track of its status and activity. In addition to this information, a light shows you if there isn’t enough oil. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in it. From a safety point of view, the product has a circuit breaker for overload protection and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without worry. The Firman P05701 comes with oil, a funnel, and a tool kit, as well as the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual to get you up and running right away.
Mobility
The Firman P05701 is L28.4 x W27.5 x H26.8 inches and has a typical open-frame design. This gives the generator stability and lets it be raised above ground level. The generator is built to work well outside and in rough places. Even though the generator is technically considered to “be portable,” it will be very hard to move it by hand because it weighs 178 pounds (in the sense that it is movable). It is hard to move around, but its wheel kit (dia:10) makes it possible “Once it’s on the floor, it will be easier to move because of the handle that folds down.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Firman Power Equipment is a business with a recent but reputable history in the power equipment sector. It was founded in 1999. The Arizona-based business provides a vast array of goods, including power tools, automotive equipment, storage items, work clothing, but its assortment of generators of different shapes, sizes, and outputs stands out above the rest. Interestingly, Firman serves as a de facto distributor of China National Machinery Industry Corporation’s goods in the US and is a fully owned subsidiary of that business.
Warranty Information
There is a warranty on the Firman P05701 for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. Check out Firman’s warranty policies if you want to know more about the warranty on a Firman generator. You can also call their customer service line at 1-844-FIRMAN1 (844-347-6261).
