Description
The ECHO EG-3500 has a 212 cc OHV 4-stroke engine that runs it. It has a 120V output, runs on gas, and has a running wattage of 2,800W and a peak wattage of 3,500W. The generator can make up to 72 dBA of noise (A tad noisier than a vacuum cleaner). It uses a simple, traditional pull-start mechanism to get going. With a full tank, the EG-3500 can run for about 10 hours at 0.5 load (using about 0.4 GPH of fuel). This is because it can hold 4 gallons of fuel.
Outlets
The control panel has 5 AC outlets: Two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes and a 120V 30A (L5-30R) outlet. This ECHO generator isn’t quite RV Ready, but it has an L5-30R receptacle that makes it easy to hook it up to an RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter.
Features
There is a light that lets you know right away if there isn’t enough oil. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in it. In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has an automatic shut-off for low oil and an overload protection (circuit breaker). Aside from the features we’ve already talked about, the ECHO EG-3500 comes with the basic paperwork and an owner’s manual , so you can start using it right away.
Mobility
The dimensions of the ECHO EG-3500 are L25 x W24.5 x H21.5 in, It has a traditional, open frame design and measures L25 x W24.5 x H21.5 in, This gives the generator stability and lets it be raised above ground level. The device was made to work well in harsh conditions and in the great outdoors. Even though the generator is technically considered to “be portable,” it will be very hard to move it by hand because it weighs 110 pounds (in the sense that it is movable). But its wheel kit and folding handle make it easy to move once it’s on the ground, which makes up for its lack of maneuverability.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
In Northbrook, Illinois, ECHO Incorporated was first established in 1972 as the Kioritz Corporation of America. The name was modified to its present form in 1978. Despite being the largest subsidiary of the Japanese company Yamabiko, its US headquarters are in Lake Zurich, Illinois, not far from Chicago. The majority of ECHO’s products are made in the US, using components from both domestic and international vendors. Portable generators, pressure washers, trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws are just a few of the many outdoor power devices it offers. The business takes pride in its commitment to the three environmental sectors of technology, conservation, and sustainability.
