Description
A Briggs & Stratton OHV 4-stroke engine with 171 cc powers the Briggs & Stratton P3000 PowerSmart. It has a 120V output, runs on gas, and has a running wattage of 2,600W and a peak wattage of 3,000W. The device can also work in parallel (a PowerSmart parallel kit is not included), so it can be connected to a similar or compatible unit to get more power. The noise level of the inverter generator is 58 dBA, which is less than a quiet suburb. It is started with a pull-start mechanism. With a full tank, the P3000 PowerSmart can run for up to 10 hours on its 1.5-gallon fuel tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.15 GPH). The P3000 PowerSmart makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of less than 3%, so it’s safe to plug sensitive electronics into the AC outlets (THD).
Outlets
The control panel has 5 AC outlets: two 120V 20A (5-20R) duplexes and one 120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle. It also has 2 DC outlets: a 12V 5A receptacle (like a cigarette lighter) that makes it easy to charge batteries, and a 5V USB port that makes it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets. Even though this Briggs & Stratton generator is not RV Ready, an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor can be used to connect it to an RV easily (included).
Features
The P3000 PowerSmart’s control panel has a digital StatStationTM data center that tells you how much power it is putting out and how many hours it has been running for. This lets you keep track of its status and activity. In addition to this information, the light indicators will let you know when the generator is ready, when its oil level is too low, or when it is overloaded. The inverter generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to find out how much gas is in it. The unit has Briggs & Stratton’s Quiet Power Technology (QPTTM), which makes it much quieter, uses less fuel, and puts out less pollution. When the switch on the control panel is turned ON, the engine speed goes up when electrical loads are added and down when they are taken away. As far as safety goes, the device has an automatic shut-off for low oil and a circuit breaker for overheating, so you can use it without worrying. The Briggs & Stratton P3000 PowerSmart comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual to help you start the generator quickly. It also comes with a funnel, an RV adapter, battery charging cables, a tool kit, and oil. You can also buy a storage cover that is made by the company.
Mobility
Since the Briggs & Stratton P3000 PowerSmart is an inverter generator, its closed design (L26 x W14 x H21 in) makes it look better than traditional devices with open frames. The generator has a modern look and is easy to use when generating power for fun. Since the P3000 PowerSmart weighs only 84 pounds, you can take it anywhere you need power. Also, its two wheels, which are 6 “Once it’s on the ground, its telescoping handle will make it easy to move.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
