Description
The SUA3800iED from A-iPower The powerful and versatile A-iPower SUA3800iED gives out 120V thanks to its dual-fuel technology. Even though it runs on gasoline, it has a running wattage of 3,500W and a peak wattage of 3,800W. It is powered by propane and has a rated power of 3200 watts and a starting power of 3500 watts. Also, since the generator can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel kit), it can be linked to a second unit to make more power. Switch On Demand is a feature of A-iPower that lets you switch from gasoline to propane or propane to gasoline while the generator is running. The noise level of this inverter generator is 63 dBA, which is just a little louder than background music. It can be started with a simple pull-start mechanism or an easy-to-use electric starter (battery included). The SUA3800iED can also be started from a distance, which makes it even more convenient (key fob included). With a full tank of gas, the SUA3800iED, which has a fuel capacity of 2.6 gallons, can run for up to 12 hours (fuel consumption is approximately 0.22 GPH). It can run for up to 16 hours if propane is used (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 0.29 GPH). The SUA3800iED makes a clean sine wave. Because it has 3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), you can safely plug sensitive electronics into its AC outlets.
Outlets
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet and a 120V 30A (L5-30R) outlet. It also has 1 DC outlet and a 5V USB port for charging devices like phones and tablets. Even though this A-iPower generator isn’t quite RV-ready, an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor makes it easy to connect it to an RV (included).
Features
One of the control panel’s features, a digital data center, provides data on the SUA3800iED’s lifetime run hours, fuel level, power output, voltage, and frequency. This information is useful for tracking the device’s activity and status. Along with this information, a number of light indications let you know when the oil level is too low, the generator is overloading, or it is time to start the generator. A built-in fuel gauge on the inverter generator provides a quick, simple, and practical way to check the gas level in the appliance. This device has an automated low oil shut-off and an overload safeguard (circuit breaker) for security, giving you complete piece of mind when using it. The A-iPower SUA3800iED comes with the usual paperwork, such as an owner’s manual and a key fob, as well as the following extras: an RV adaptor, tool box, key fob, oil, propane hose, and funnel.
Mobility
The encased inverter generator design of the A-iPower SUA3800iED (L24 x W19 x H22 in) makes it look better than any ordinary open frame product. The design shown here is in line with the latest trends and is great for easy and fun use. The generator weighs 121 pounds, so it may be hard to move or transport it by hand, even though it is technically a “portable” generator (movable). But its two wheels and telescoping handle make it easier to move once it’s on the floor.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
A-iPower, a small US-based business, is a new player in the generator industry. They sell engines, water pumps, pressure washers, and of course generators as part of their product line. Numerous conventional and inverted portable generators, many of which feature an electric starter, are available from A-iPower. The business has a number of locations, including a distribution hub in Wisconsin and a headquarters in California. But the entire manufacturing of their products is outsourced to China.
Warranty Information
A warranty covers the A-iPower SUA3800iED for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts. A-iPower generators come with a warranty that you can find out more about by calling A-iPower Customer Support at 1-855-888-3598. Check A-ipower Website for more information.
