Description
The WEN GN400iX has a 212 cc OHV 4-stroke engine that gives off 120V, runs on gasoline, and puts out 3,500W while running and 4,000W at its peak. The generator can also be connected to a second unit for more power (the WEN Parallel Connection Kit is not included). The noise level of the inverter generator is 67 dBA, which is lower than the noise level of background music. It has a traditional pull-start mechanism. The GN400iX has a 1.85-gallon fuel tank, so it can run for about 7 hours at 0.5 load on a full tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.26 GPH). The GN400iX makes a clean sine wave. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 1.2%, you can safely plug your sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Outlets
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet and a 120V 30A (TT-30R) outlet. It also has 2 DC outlets: two 5V USB-A ports that make it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets. This WEN generator is RV ready because it has a TT-30R plug. TT stands for “Travel Trailer”.
Features
The light indicators on the device will show if the oil level is too low, if the generator is ready, or if it is overloaded. The inverter generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it easy to see at a glance how much gas is in the tank. When it comes to safety, this product has an automatic low oil shut-off, a low fuel shut-off, and an overload protection (circuit breaker), so you can use it without any worries. The unit also works well because WEN’s CO Watchdog can detect carbon monoxide. This system keeps track of how much CO gas is being made while the generator is running. If there is too much CO gas, the CO Watchdog system will turn off the generator automatically. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to always take your generator outside. The WEN GN400iX comes with standard paperwork and an owner’s manual that will help you get the device up and running quickly. It also comes with a funnel, two altitude kits, and a tool kit. You can also buy a storage cover that is made by the company.
Mobility
With dimensions of L19.8 x W13.8 x H18.9 in, the WEN GN400iX is a traditional, open-frame generator that is stable and can be raised above ground level. The device was made to work well in harsh conditions and in the great outdoors. Because it weighs 66.1 lbs, you can take the GN400iX anywhere. The open frame design of this product also makes it easier to grab and move.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Nick Anton started WEN Products, an American power tool manufacturer and distributor, in 1951. WEN Products says that its research in random orbital technology contributed to the creation of current chainsaws, soldering tools, and wet sharpeners. The Illinois-based corporation increased the range of power tools that were available through its distribution network, including presses, drills, and of course, power generators. WEN is a distributor, and the majority of the products in its inventory are branded imports from Asian manufacturers.
Warranty Information
The WEN GN400iX has a warranty that lasts up to 2 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.
