Description
The Sportsman GEN7500DF’s dual-fuel technology lets it put out 120/240V and gives it a lot of power and versatility. If it is powered by gasoline, the device has a running power of 6,000W and a starting power of 7,500W. If it’s powered by propane, it gives 5400 watts at full power and 6700 watts when starting up. The generator has a noise level of 80 dBA, which is about the same as an alarm clock. It has a simple pull-start mechanism and an easy-to-use electric starter (battery not included). With a fuel capacity of 6.2 gallons, the GEN7500DF can run for about 9 hours at 0.5 load with a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption is approximately 0.69 GPH). If propane is used, it can run for about 5 hours (on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 0.94 GPH).
Outlets
Two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes, a 120V 30A (TT-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle are all on the control panel. It also has 1 DC outlet: a 12V 8A receptacle that lets you charge batteries easily. This Sportsman generator is ready for an RV because it has a TT-30R plug (TT stands for “Travel Trailer”). The GEN7500DF is also transfer switch ready because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. You can easily connect it to your breaker box to power your home when the power goes out.
Features
The status and activity of the GEN7500DF can be easily checked on the control panel, which has a voltmeter that makes it easy to check power output at any time. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to find out how much gas is in it. As far as safety goes, the device has an automatic shut-off for low oil and a circuit breaker for overheating, so you can use it without worrying. The Sportsman GEN7500DF comes with a tool kit, a propane hose, and battery charging cables, as well as the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual to get you up and running quickly.
Mobility
The Sportsman GEN7500DF has a typical open frame that measures L30.8 x W26.5 x H27 in, This gives it support and stability and gives you the option of raising it off the ground. The device was made to work well in harsh conditions and in the great outdoors. Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it can be hard to move and use it without special tools because it weighs 194 pounds. But its wheels and folding handle make it easier to move once it’s on the floor.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
The US-based Buffalo firm is the registered owner of the minor brand known as Sportsman Series. The Buffalo Corporation is a small business that distributes tools and household goods. It was established in 1964. They provide products under the labels AmeriHome, Black Bull, Buffalo Tools, and Sportsman Series, which includes a variety of generators and other everyday items. The company, in fact, appears to outsource all of its production to foreign countries and simply serves as a distributor for its own brands.
