Description
The powerful and versatile WEN DF430X gives off 120V thanks to its dual-fuel technology. Even though it runs on gasoline, it has a running wattage of 3,500W and a peak wattage of 4,375W. It runs on propane and has a rated power of 3150 watts and a starting power of 3950 watts. This generator has a simple pull-start mechanism that has been used for a long time. With a fuel tank of 2.9 gallons, the DF430X can run for about 8 hours at 0.5 load on gasoline (fuel consumption is approximately 0.36 GPH). If you use propane instead, it can run for about 13 hours on a 20-pound tank (propane uses about 0.36 GPH).
Outlets
The control panel has 4 AC outlets: a 120V 20A (5-20R) duplex outlet, a 120V 30A (TT-30R) outlet, and a 120V 30A (L5-30R) outlet. This WEN generator is RV ready because it has a TT-30R plug. TT stands for “Travel Trailer”.
Features
The status and activity of the DF430X can be easily checked on the control panel, which has a meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it easy to see at a glance how much gas is in the tank. In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has an automatic shut-off for low oil and an overload protection (circuit breaker). The unit also works well because WEN’s CO Watchdog can detect carbon monoxide. This system keeps track of how much CO gas is being made while the generator is running. If there is too much CO gas, the CO Watchdog system will turn off the generator automatically. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to always take your generator outside. The WEN DF430X comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual that will help you start the generator quickly. It also comes with oil, a funnel, a tool kit, and a propane hose. You can also buy a storage cover that is made by the company.
Mobility
With dimensions of L26.8 x W22.4 x H21.3 in, the WEN DF430X is a traditional, open-frame generator that is stable and can be raised above ground level. The device was made to work well in harsh conditions and in the great outdoors. Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it can be hard to move and use it without special tools because it weighs 106 pounds. But its wheel kit and folding handle make it easy to move once it’s on the ground, which makes up for its lack of maneuverability.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Nick Anton started WEN Products, an American power tool manufacturer and distributor, in 1951. WEN Products says that its research in random orbital technology contributed to the creation of current chainsaws, soldering tools, and wet sharpeners. The Illinois-based corporation increased the range of power tools that were available through its distribution network, including presses, drills, and of course, power generators. WEN is a distributor, and the majority of the products in its inventory are branded imports from Asian manufacturers.
Warranty Information
The WEN DF430X has a warranty that lasts up to 2 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.
