Description
The Genmax GM2800iAE is made with a 145 cc Dinking OHV 4-stroke engine that runs on gasoline. It has a 120V output and a running power of 2,500W and a peak power of 2,800W. Also, since it can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel kit), its power can be doubled by connecting it to a second unit that works with it. The inverter generator has a noise rating of 62 dBA, which is just a little louder than an office. It has a simple pull-start mechanism and an easy-to-use electric starter (battery included). To make things even easier, the GM2800iAE can be started from afar (key fob included). With a full tank, the GM2800iAE can run for up to 10 hours on its 1.7 gallon fuel tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.17 GPH). As the GM2800iAE makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 3%, you can safely plug sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Outlets
The control panel has 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet, a 120V 30A (TT-30R) outlet, and a 120V 20A (TT-20R) outlet. It also has 2 DC outlets: two 5V USB-A ports that make it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets. This Genmax generator is ready for an RV because it has a TT-30R (TT stands for “Travel Trailer”) receptacle.
Features
The GM2800iAE’s control panel has a digital data center that shows information about the power output, frequency, voltage, fuel level, and lifetime run hours. This helps you keep track of its status and activity. In addition to this information, the device’s lights will show if the generator is overloaded, if it doesn’t have enough oil, or if it’s ready. For safety, the generator has an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), so you can use it without worrying. It also has the CO DETECT technology from Genmax, which checks the amount of carbon monoxide in the air while the generator is running. If the generator isn’t set up right and carbon monoxide levels get too high, the generator will turn off by itself. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. The Genmax GM2800iAE comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual to help you start the generator quickly. It also comes with a funnel, a key fob, and a tool kit.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
