Description
The WEN DF250iX has a 120V output and great power and versatility thanks to its dual-fuel technology. If it is powered by gasoline, the device has a running power of 2,250W and a starting power of 2,500W. If it’s powered by propane, it gives 1800 watts at full power and 2000 watts when starting up. Also, since it can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel kit), this power can be doubled by connecting it to another unit that works with it. With WEN’s Auto Fuel Selection technology, the fuel source (LPG or gasoline) is chosen automatically based on availability, with LPG being given priority. So, if the generator is hooked up to a propane tank with enough LPG, the generator will automatically use LPG. If there is no propane tank attached or not enough LPG in the tank, the generator will use gasoline. The noise level of the inverter generator is 52 dBA, which is just a little louder than a conversation at home. It has a simple pull-start mechanism. With a fuel capacity of 1.2 gallons, the DF250iX can run for about 6 hours at 0.5 load with a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption is approximately 0.2 GPH). If propane is used, it can run for about 17 hours (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 0.28 GPH). The DF250iX makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of less than 1.2%, so it’s safe to plug sensitive electronics into AC outlets (THD).
Outlets
The control panel has two AC outlets for the following: Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R). It also has 2 DC outlets: there are two 5V USB ports (USB-A) that make it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets.
Features
The lights will let you know when the oil level is too low, when the generator is ready, and when the generator is overloaded. The inverter generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it easy and quick to check the fuel level. The fuel shutoff feature stops the flow of fuel, which lets the DF250iX use up the last of the fuel in the carburetor before turning off automatically. This helps prevent the buildup and blockages that can happen when fuel sits in the carburetor for too long. This makes the unit last longer and requires less maintenance. In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has a circuit breaker for overheating, an automatic shut-off for low oil, and an automatic shut-off for low fuel. The unit also works well because WEN’s CO Watchdog can detect carbon monoxide. This system keeps track of how much CO gas is being made while the generator is running. If there is too much CO gas, the CO Watchdog system will turn off the generator automatically. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to always take your generator outside. The WEN DF250iX comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual , which lets you start it right away. It also comes with a propane hose, a funnel, and a tool kit.
Mobility
The WEN DF250iX looks better than a typical open frame generator because it has a closed inverter generator (L19 x W11.5 x H18.2 in). The design shown here is in line with the latest trends and is great for easy and fun use. The DF250iX is a light and portable generator because it weighs only 48.5 pounds. A single person should be able to move it around easily and get power wherever they go. The handle, which is built into the case, is also helpful because it makes it easy to carry.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Nick Anton started WEN Products, an American power tool manufacturer and distributor, in 1951. WEN Products says that its research in random orbital technology contributed to the creation of current chainsaws, soldering tools, and wet sharpeners. The Illinois-based corporation increased the range of power tools that were available through its distribution network, including presses, drills, and of course, power generators. WEN is a distributor, and the majority of the products in its inventory are branded imports from Asian manufacturers.
Warranty Information
The WEN DF250iX has a warranty that lasts up to 2 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.
